

Susan was born on August 27, 1957 to Thomas I. Murphy Sr. and Ruth M. (McClure) Murphy in Pensacola, Florida.
Susan is preceded in death by the love of her life, CDR Harold Dean Chestnutt USN, RET with whom she celebrated 34 years of marriage and travelled the world together during his military service. And her parents, sister, Ruth Ann Murphy, and brothers, Thomas I. Murphy, Jr & Michael E. Murphy.
Left to cherish her memory is her loyal and loving canine companion, Samantha, as well as five nieces & nephews: Richard (Melissa) Murphy of Stapleton, Alabama, Patricia (Glenn) Foster, Catherine (Glenn) Cooper, Thomas (Lisa) Murphy, III all from Mobile, Alabama and Melissa (Joel) Hasse of Latimer, Mississippi. Surviving in addition to her nieces and nephews are brother-in-law, Roy (Marie) Chestnutt, sisters-in-law, Margie Lee and Margie Chestnutt and a dear friend, Bob Ivins.
The family would like to thank the staff of University of West Florida Hospital for the compassionate care they provided Susan and our family in her time of need.
A Visitation for Susan will be held Monday, May 8, 2023 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. With Funeral Service to follow from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, and Graveside Service will immediately follow from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL 32508.
