Our world is a little less bright with the passing of Sylvia Diederich on July 12, 2026. She was born on November 20, 1942 in Elyria, Ohio to Alvin and Ethel (Yucha) Noster. She grew up on Winckles Street with her older brother Alvin, younger sister Barbara and many neighborhood friends. She attended St Mary’s school and graduated from Elyria High School in 1960.
She married her husband Allen in 1963 and had 57 years of memories until his passing in 2020. Being a mother was her greatest joy. Her children Terry (James), Denise Kershaw (Rich), Gregory and Hope Holt (Richard) are forever grateful for her unconditional love, support and friendship. She passed down her nurturing nature, beautiful smile and just a touch of sass to her 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Her first job was at Thomasson’s Chips and she also worked at Humphrey & Cavagna Insurance, The Chronicle-Telegram and Dr. Dostall Optometry. In 2003 she and Allen moved to Florida to enjoy the warm weather where they made many new friends at Palm Valley, worked in the yard along their lakefront home and enjoyed retirement. Pets Kyoko and Pedro kept them company for many years. Cooking, baking, crocheting, gardening, watching movies, and dinners with family and friends were her favorite past times. Many memories were made in her trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, Arizona, California, Key West and Paris. She generously donated to St. Labre Indian School, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the ASPCA for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Allen, son Allen Jr., her parents Alvin and Ethel, and brother Alvin. An amazing wife, mother, grandma, relative, neighbor and friend to everyone who was fortunate enough to meet her, she is gone too soon due to Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Fittingly, as she requested she passed listening to Roy Orbison and Let There Be Peace on Earth.
