

Terry Lewis Sr.
February 11, 1946 – February 2, 2025
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Terry Lewis Sr., who departed this life on February 2, 2025. He was born on February 11, 1946, in Brewton, Alabama, to the late Mildred Lewis and Willie Lewis.
Terry proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, earning numerous awards and medals for his bravery and dedication. After his military service, he continued his lifelong commitment to serving others as a firefighter until his retirement.
Terry never met a stranger—his warmth and kindness made him beloved by all who knew him. To know him was to love him. He was a devoted provider, not only to his family but also to the many adopted children he cared for, ensuring that no one went without. A jack of all trades, he could build a home from the ground up and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
As an involved parent, Terry was a constant presence at his children’s school events, always offering his unwavering support. He founded the Dad’s Club at Ensley Elementary School, where he helped encourage and engage fathers in their children’s education. His dedication earned him many awards and recognition from his children’s schools.
Cherished Memories
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Vera Lewis, and his cherished children: Elena Foster (Doug), Yoko Lewis-McKinney (Marcus), and Terry Lewis Jr. (Susanne) and Jermaine Lewis, Michael Kelly (Jennifer), James McGee,. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Terri "Lynn" Lewis.
He is also survived by his twin brother, Jerry Lewis, and his sisters Dianne Slayton (Luther) and Debora Jones-Allen. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Lewis and Brenda Lewis, as well as his brothers, Eugene Lewis and Jimmy Lewis.
Terry was a proud grandfather to Trey Kelly, Jasmin Kelly-Sheard (Josh), Sydni Kelly, Jamike Lee, James McGee Jr., Damiracle Lewis, La'Jordan Tripp, Taelynn Lewis, Tava Lewis, Jermaine Lewis Jr., Tyraya Lewis, Tichina Lewis, Devon Lewis, Jasmine Lewis, and Tierra Lewis.
Forever in Our Hearts
His love, generosity, and wisdom will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will cherish his memory.
