Thomas (Tommy) Edwin Bosso was born in Pensacola, Florida on May 9, 1945, to Bernard Thomas Bosso and Thelma Matilda (Hayno) Bosso. He was the 2nd of 7 children, of which all were boys. Tommy attended Saint Stephen’s Catholic School and graduated from Catholic High School in 1963. He was drafted and served in Vietnam in the Army. Upon his return, he worked civil service as a machinist for NADEP out of Naval Air Station Pensacola where he met many lifelong friends. He was also a very talented contractor where he helped many friends and family with construction projects and even built his forever home. Tommy dated Delores (Dottie) Anne Soley and they got married on February 15th, 1969. They were together as a loving couple for 52 ½ years. Tommy and Dottie went on to have 2 children, Shannon and Eric. Shannon had three children, Maegan, Michael and Nicholas Wetzel with Mike Wetzel. Eric has one daughter, Britley, with Lauren Dilmore.
Tommy had many interests and hobbies including camping, fishing, skiing, woodworking, construction and cooking at fish fries. He put his extensive knowledge as a machinist to use building elaborate cookers and putting on many fish fries for churches and family functions. Although he enjoyed outdoor activities, what he cherished the most was making countless memories with friends and family. There are endless stories from his brothers, nieces, nephews, family and friends of how Tommy would take them fishing on his boat, the “Bosso Nova”, or teach them how to water ski. His specialty was telling stories to all his nieces and nephews of the ‘Headless Horseman’ while camping on Johnson Beach, which has been passed down to future generations.
Tommy’s most enduring quality was the same as his wife Dottie’s, which was his deep love towards family and friends. He was an extremely caring person that loved and welcomed everyone into their family with open arms. For his immediate family, and specifically his wife and grandchildren, his love was boundless.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Bosso and Thelma Matilda (Hayno) Bosso, wife Delores (Dottie) Anne Soley Bosso and daughter Shannon Bosso Wetzel (Mike). He is survived by his son Eric (Lauren), 4 grandchildren Maegan, Michael and Nicholas Wetzel and Britley Bosso, 6 brothers Terry (Sandra), Dennis (Karen), Mike (Margaret), David (Kathy), Kevin (Cathy), Msgr. Stephen Bosso and many nieces and nephews.
He passed away at the age of 78 from congestive heart failure and cardiovascular disease at the hospice facility in Sacred Heart hospital with many family members at his side. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff for their assistance and attention in the last year of his life. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
