1917 - 2013
Treva D. (Burton) Fradenburg was born 25 July 1917 in Ft. Wayne, IN. She passed away peacefully on 30 September 2013 at the age of 96, in the home of her daughter, Jean McPhee. Treva lived by her favorite motto: "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine."
Her life's goal as a good mother was to leave a heritage of love to her entire family, including her seven children and their spouses: Jean McPhee (Pensacola, FL), Pat and Ken Hultman (Ocean Springs, MS), Laarni and Ron Fradenburg (Gulf Breeze, FL), Marti and Morris A. Esmiol III (Farmington, NM), Connie and Jack Ladd, Sr. (Midland, TX), Sharon and Filmore McPherson (Stafford, VA), and Glen A. Fradenburg (Midland, TX). Treva was preceded in death by her husband and love, Dr. Leo Glenn Fradenburg, former military officer and pilot for the USAF, and by two granddaughters. She is the matriarch for a growing family of 27 grandchildren and 29 plus great-grandchildren.
Of the nine children of Carrie Florence (DeTurk) Burton and Levi Burton, Treva is survived by her one remaining sister and sister's husband, Donna and Bob Jesse, of Ft. Wayne Indiana.
Treva was the youngest graduate of Central High School in Ft. Wayne Indiana at age 15. At 17, Treva graduated from Ball State Teachers' College, taught for seven years, and received her life-time teaching certificate from the state of Indiana. Treva and Glenn married in Starkville, MS, on 4 April 1942. She supported him in his military career where they were proud to serve. After retirement, they began a second career at Auburn University where Col. Fradenburg served as a professor in the engineering department. Their final retirement was to to Gulf Breeze, Florida.
We wish to express gratitude and love to family and friends, near and far, for the tender care and concern each has shown to Treva, and for the kind expressions of sympathy to the family at her passing.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
