Verena Folkerts Whitney died February 2, 2019. Verena was born January 23, 1936 in Beatrice, Nebraska. She was a graduate of St. John's Academy, St. John's College, Winfield, Kansas, and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Pensacola, Florida.
She and Ralph Hayden Whitney were married on September 5, 1959.
Verena was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Rosette Whitney, her husband, Ralph H. Whitney, and her parents, Remmer E. Folkerts and Lydia Louise (Honig) Folkerts.
She is survived by her son, Mark R. Whitney of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Rob Hallford Jr. of Century, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, John H. and Natasha Whitney of Glen Ridge, New Jersey; grandchildren, Anna, Emily and Matthew Whitney; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Robbie and Ashley Hallford of Pace, Florida; great-grandson, RJ Hallford.
The family has entrusted Oak Lawn Funeral Home to make the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019 from 6-8 pm and the graveside service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Barrancas National Cemetery at 12:00 pm.
