Vic Goeller, age 94, passed away March 24, 2023.
He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on January 6, 1929 to Victor and Lorena Goeller and is predeceased by his parents and three sisters, Joan, Audrey, and Mary.
Dr. Goeller received his bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and received his medical degree from Tulane University. A distinguished physician, he was a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons, and became Chief of Surgery and Chief of Staff at West Florida Hospital.
He served his country as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force where he developed his passion for flying, later obtaining several pilot ratings.
His other interests included restoring cars, tennis, fly fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He was a multi-talented "Renaissance Man" and mastered numerous skills. He played clarinet and harmonica and was considered quite the raconteur with his storytelling abilities.
His spiritual convictions were evident as a leader in his Sunday School class and as a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Pensacola for many years.
Vic was devoted to his children, daughter Lisa (Goeller) Entrekin (husband Paul), son Dr. Victor Russell Goeller, III, DMD (wife Melissa), his granddaughter Hattie and especially to the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Diane (Cassidy). He also leaves three step-grandchildren, Chelsea Patterson, Lindy (Entrekin) Sikes and Logan Entrekin.
The family will receive friends at Pleitz Chapel in First Baptist Church at noon on Wednesday, March 29 to be followed by a memorial service at 1:00pm and graveside services afterwards at Bayview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Russell Goeller III, Paul Entrekin, Logan Entrekin, Scott Bell, Cal Clevenger, Scotty Douglas, Lopaka Robello and Chuck Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Clevenger, Dr. John Gage, Corbett Davis, Jr., Bobby Cassidy, John Kizziah, Sr., Gary Buchanan, Gary Gilmore and Kaipo Robello.
