Vincent Joseph Cadora Sr (Vince, Vinnie, Mr. C, Daddy, Dad, Pops, Paw Paw) was born January 29, 1934 in Richmond, Virginia to Joseph Andrew Cadora and Dorothea Mae Whitehead. He joined his wife Sue, son Joey and grandson Tyler Allerheiligen in Heaven on March 12, 2025.
At the age of 17, while attending St. Benedictine High School in Richmond, he followed his friend Charles Thompson and enlisted in the United States Navy. Vince and Charles had met as boys delivering telegrams for Western Union, and Charles would later marry Vince's sister Doris.
Early in his Naval career, Vince was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas where he met and married Carolyn Sue Wheeler. Marcie, their oldest daughter was born there. While based in Bermuda, Vince and Sue welcomed their son Vincent Joseph Cadora Jr. (Joey). Upon receiving orders to return Stateside and again finding themselves in Corpus Christi, Vince and Sue bought their first home and brought their youngest daughter Brenda into the world. Vince would see the world while deployed on aircraft carriers and supply ships and take his family across these United States several times, making each trip to a new duty station a family vacation.
Vince would go on to serve 30 years in the Navy and become the first Warrant Officer to be given his own command. In 2021 he was added to The Benedictine Schools of Richmond's Hall of Valor which honors alumni veterans.
Vince had an incredible work ethic and had many jobs both throughout his active military career and long after retirement. He would umpire and referee high school and college sports, and he was a Division Manager for Search & Recruit International, to name just a few. He attended college and received his degree, and became the "computer guy" helping friends and neighbors, local businesses and his beloved golf courses.
Golf! To say that Vince loved golf would be an understatement. One of his favorite memories is when he and his son Joey attended the Master's Tournament in Augusta.
When Vince decided it was time to really retire, he and Sue traveled throughout the States and Canada in several different motor homes. As they had in the 30 years in the Navy, they made more friends wherever they found themselves. Vince and Sue loved traveling in the RV's almost as much as they loved dancing. They won many awards for their dancing and folks would happily stop and watch, seeing the love in their eyes and the joy on their faces.
Vince is survived by his sister Doris Thompson and her husband Charles; daughter Marcie Cadora; daughter Brenda Allerheiligen and her husband Michael (Gator); grandson Brandon West and his wife Amy; grandson Michael Mobley; grandson Nathan Allerheiligen and fiance Tobie, and great grandchildren Jay and Jackie Allerheiligen, and their mother Lexi Allerheiligen.
Those of us left without our Daddy, our Dad, our Paw-Paw our brother, and our friend are better for having had this amazing man in our lives and will miss him forever.
If God has a computer, his computer problems are a thing of the past, and there's probably already a "Golf Gangsum" (to use Vince’s phrase) that's been formed and instead of Heavenly hymns being sung, the angels are watching Vince and Sue dancing to Sweet Caroline in each other's arms.
A Memorial Mass will be held for Vince at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church on Thursday, April 10th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of the Giver's choice in Vince Cadora’s memory.
