William Leslie Barnes

William Leslie Barnes, Sr. 89, was born May 21, 1931 in Cottondale, Florida to the late George Monroe and Katie Mae Miller Barnes. He was called to his Heavenly home August 29, 2020 in Pensacola, Florida.

William was a United States Navy Veteran who served during the Korean War. After his military career; William worked at American Cyanamid AKA! Cytec Industries until his retirement. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. William also had a love for the game of baseball and football. He was a longtime supporter of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

William had so much love to give and left a lasting impression on everyone that he met. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife; Louise Barnes, two sisters: Wayne Rogers, Helen Mason and one son; Steven Barnes.

Left to cherish William’s wonderful memories will be his three sons: William “Leslie” Barnes, Jr and wife Norma of Cantonment, FL, Randy Barnes of Atlanta, Georgia, Jayson Barnes and wife Jessica of Pensacola, Florida, three grandchildren: Caitlin, Brady and Taylor, many extended family members and numerous beloved friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Ms. Alma Pettus for her love and friendship to William during the past several years.

We have known Bill for at least 20 years now. He was always so full of life and love it was easy to feel like you had known him forever. We remember how much he treasured Louise, his sons and extended family. While sad for us, he is enjoying his eternal healing and rest now!

Bill was so wonderful! He was a true Southern gentleman who delighted everyone he came in contact with. He was charming, fun and beloved. He will be missed!
