

Lieutenant Commander William P. Forhan U.S.N. Retired Age 79, of Milton, Florida, passed away on Monday July 20th, 2015. He was born in Worcester, Mass, the eldest son of William and Jean (Hoban) Forhan. He grew up in Shrewsbury, Mass. He received his B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, and served 22 years as a naval aviator. He flew in the Vietnam War, receiving numerous commendations, including the Bronze Star with Valor. During his naval career he flew 19 different types of aircraft. After retiring in the Pensacola area, he worked as a substitute teacher at Ransom Middle School for 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan; his sons Dr. Glenn Forhan, Gary Forhan (Linda), and Greg Forhan (Diane) all of the Jacksonville, Florida area; his daughter, Kim Markey (Mike) of Milton; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A kinder more gentle soul there never was. There will be a private memorial service at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pensacola, followed by burial at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or an animal shelter of your choice.
