William Wallace Kary, 89, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011.
He was a long time resident of Pensacola. “Bill” served in the Army Air Force as a navigator/bombardier, 2nd Lieutenant, during World War II. He was listed as Missing In Action and became a Prisoner of War in Barth, Germany from November 05, 1943 until May 01, 1945. He received the Bronze Service Star and European Theater of Operations Ribbon.
After serving his country, he attended Georgia Tech, earning a Civil Engineering Degree. He retired after 40 years of work as a Civil Engineer.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Kathryn and two sisters, MollyAnn Lane and Betty Sisk.
Survivors include his daughters, Michele Hartley and husband Robert and Marsha Verdin Higdon and husband Tom; sister, Hazel Palmer of Homosassa Springs, Florida; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2011 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with the Rev. Fr. John Licari officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 pm Monday.
Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
The family wishes to thank Life Care Center and Covenant Hospice for their care and treatment. A special thank you to friends and neighbors who were always there to help.
