William Eugene Mitchell

William E Mitchell joined his Heavenly Father on April 26, 2025; he passed away peacefully in his home in Pensacola, Florida. He was born in Anniston, Alabama on January 2, 1931 to William and Nealy Mitchell.

William proudly served his country in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Lake Champlain during the Korean War period, and at NAS Pensacola. He met and married Gail Wright in 1955, and was happily married to her for 70 years. He and Gail moved to Pensacola shortly after their marriage, where William finished his service with the Navy and then went to work for Cox Communications, he retired from in Cox in 1992. He was an involved member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida.

William was predeceased by his daughter, Marie in 2023 whom he loved and missed dearly; one sister, and two brothers also predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Gail Mitchell; and his son, Mike Mitchell.

William lived a long and good life and now he is at rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A Visitation will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Rd, Pensacola, Florida, on Tuesday, May 6th beginning at 11:30am, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30, then there will be a procession to Barrancas National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
