He played high school football, basketball, and baseball, but it was on the baseball field that he had his greatest success. In his senior year he was most valuable player after achieving a 409 batting average. His favorite team was the Atlanta Braves.
Bill taught middle school English, Math and Science in Morristown, New York.
He is preceded in death by his parents Richard S. and Shirley Varner and his brother Richard B. Varner Sr. He is survived by his brother Steve Varner, Sister-in-law Joyce Varner, Nephews Richard B. Varner Jr., Mark Varner, Johnnie Varner and Niece Donna Varner. As well as many great Nephews and Nieces.
Bill will be missed by his family; he was a gentle soul.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Service will begin at 12:00 pm. The burial will take place at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.
