Born in Pennsylvania, Zane's adventurous spirit led him to travel extensively across the country and around the world. He joined the military as soon as he was able and dedicated himself to serving his country. He retired honorably in the late nineties in San Diego, California, and moved around a few more times before finally settling in Navarre, Florida.
In 1980, Zane met the love of his life, and in 1982, they welcomed their daughter. Despite life’s challenges, he was a loving father who adored and cherished Lynzie with all his heart and always strived to provide the best life for her.
A talented builder and artist, Zane possessed a diverse skill set that included glass blowing and woodworking. His garage was often filled with projects, where he expressed his creativity and craftsmanship. Music also played a significant role in his life; he enjoyed playing guitar and had an impressive record collection that reflected his passion for various genres.
Zane was known for his love of adventure. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle around San Diego taking his family on sunset rides or day trips to Tower Records picking out music. He liked sailing with friends around the Bay, and sought out new experiences whenever possible. His laugh could often be heard filling the room as he watched his favorite comedians or shows, creating a contagious desire of laughter among everyone.
Zane is survived by his daughter, Lynzie, of San Diego; his stepmother Barbara, his sister, Roberta Engle, and her husband John; brothers Edward and Loren; and numerous extended nieces and nephews and family members scattered throughout the country.
