Alan Aaron

Alan was born in Peoria on Christmas Day, December 25, 1938, as one half of a surprise set of twin boys. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and two brothers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judith Aaron; his four daughters, who adored him: Michelle Aaron (Steve Hope), Lara Aaron (William Johnson), Stephanie Aaron (Daniel Nicholson), and Jackie Cain (Billy Cain); his twin brother, Paul Aaron; six grandchildren (Ashley, Maximillian, Sydney, Emma, Tuesday and Matthew); four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and of course his Lyons kids.

Al spent his entire working life in construction primarily as an ironworker, through Iron Workers Local 112 in Peoria. For a time, he owned his own company, Central Illinois Fence. There are many structures around town that our family can point to and proudly say, "He worked on that." He was a craftsman and an artisan who loved his work. Although he had opportunities to work elsewhere, he always went back to the iron. He enjoyed working outside, the satisfaction of building something with his hands, the lifelong friendships and the camaraderie of the job. He had a great sense of humor and brought that fun to every job site, often sharing stories of the pranks they pulled over the years.

Al was exceedingly well read, with a love of the classics and sleuth novels. He had a tremendous vocabulary that always seemed to come out during family board games. He also loved movies of every kind, from silent films to the old black-and-white classics, and music.

At home, Al rebuilt player pianos, which became the centerpiece of many family gatherings. There were many evenings spent with family and friends gathered around the piano, singing together late into the night. Those are memories his family will always treasure.

In retirement, Al whiled away many happy days fishing with his twin brother, Paul, or grabbing beers with his lifelong pals, Ed, Archie and Woody.

Al was a terrific grandfather. He and Judy cared for their grandchildren from the time they were born until they started kindergarten, giving them a lifetime of memories. They remember trips to the bakery for bread that always included a cookie, rides in Grandpa's truck, crispy baked half donuts, Christmas tree hunts, ice cream for breakfast, and countless hours spent together. One day, his grandson drew a picture of a robot, and then Al worked with him to build a replica from the drawing. He was exceedingly patient and kind, and he loved his family deeply. We were incredibly blessed to call him our husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral home, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. An additional visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 Noon.
