

He was born April 25, 1935, in Elsberry, Missouri to Willis and Sarah Buchanan. He married Catherine Webster on April 15, 1957, in Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; son, Mitchell; and daughter, Barbara Barnes.
Surviving are two daughters, April (Chet) Nosalik of Sesser and Cindy (Steve) Fuller of Scottsboro, Alabama; one son, Ken (Gwen) Buchanan of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin; two brothers, Norman of Peoria, and Ronnie (Pat) of Cartersville, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Buck served honorably as a PFC, US Army during the Korean War.
He worked at Pabst Brewery in Peoria Heights for 25 years before retiring.
He loved fishing, working outside in his yard and garden, cooking, reading, holding any baby he was handed, teasing good-naturedly, collecting eagles, but most of all, being with his family. Buck never met a stranger, and his love of children knew no bounds. With the gentle guidance of his friend, Ralph “Brother B” Bauer, he deepened his faith and accepted Jesus as his Savior.
Buck's visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. The funeral service for Buck will be held at the same location at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Military rites and committal will follow at Chapel of Peace Mausoleum in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
