I miss you already, Andy. Your wit and kindness, your thoughtfulness and your smile made every day of teaching better. You were an excellent thinker, a remarkable listener, and an even better friend. My heart hurts that the world has to muddle along without you now.

Andy Decker was the best pastor and teacher I have had the privilege to serve under these past 14 years. He will greatly be missed by his congregation. He was a great cook, and would always bring these wonderful beans to our first Sunday potlucks and say "I brought these especially for you sister Phyllis" because they were my favorite dish. I know I will see him again one day.

I always enjoyed visiting with Bro. Andy when he came to the Central States Youth Camp. I know all of his family and friends will miss him greatly. And we all look forward to seeing in heaven one day.

Andy was a devoted colleague at Illinois Central College, and I had the opportunity to share an office with him for a number of years. I enjoyed our conversations. We shared many teaching stories with each other and laughed frequently. I want to extend my deepest sympathy to his family.

Andy was my friend for 35 years...and I am very saddened at his loss....! May the Lord bless his family during this extreme moment of grief and loss..........!

Mr. Decker is a dear friend of a dear friend. Even with such a distant knowledge of him, I feel the impact of this great loss. My love and condolences go out to his family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

I had the enjoyment of not only knowing Andy as he was growing in the ministry, as a friend, as a co-worker at Whittman-Hart and as a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with him as my pastor. His attitude towards everything came through in all ways. He was never shy about letting everyone know about God. His sense of humor was wonderful in it's own special way. While teaching at Church if he asked if there were any questions and no one responded he was apt to turn his head and answer himself. He will be sorely missed by all those that knew him and of course by his family. Prayers will be with you Steph, Katie and Em. Andy has all the answers now.

Andy was always a bright spot in the Adjunct office 306C at ICC. I enjoyed talking with him and sharing insights into our jobs and students. I loved his books. He was a real talent as an author, and now I will have to wait a while to discuss his next novel. God bless you all.

Andy was the best patient ever, always made my day when I saw him and had the priviledge to treat him.  My condolences to his family. I will never forget Andy.

I shall never forget the first time we met Andy.  He came to our house with Brian Dixon and ate his fill of spaghetti, or so I thought.  I only learned several years later the everyone actually forgot they were having dinner at our house and had eaten before they came.  What a sweet Godly man, Andy was.  It was a privilege to have known him and had sweet  fellowship with him.  Our prayers are with you all.

 It is so hard to believe that Andy is gone.  I didn't get to see him as much as I would have liked recently, but thought about him often.  He will never know how much his spiritual guidance really helped me.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Stephanie, Emily, and Katie.  I look forward to seeing Andy again in eternity. May God's grace comfort you all at this time. We will all miss him. Brother Andy was a man of God I deeply respected. I was so grateful he was able to assume the pastorate at Landmark years ago. The church was blessed to have him as pastor.

Andy was my late brother Brian Conaway's best friend through school, he was such a sweet guy, Ill always hold close to my heart memories of those 2 young guys! And to Stephanie,Katherine and Emily, my heart goes out to you, Im so sorry for you all having to go through this, to the entire Decker family,Im sending loving thoughts and lots of hugs and prayers. I am so sorry that Andy has left us - it is much too early. I so enjoyed working with him at ICC. He touched so many young lives at the school, as well as the hearts and minds of other faculty members.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Decker family. Mr. Decker was one of the best instructors I had at ICC. He will be sadly missed.

Andy was such a fun guy and a great colleague in The English Department at ICC.  (I am one of the few who knew yet agreed to kept his secret--for years--that he was really a "closet" minister, so that he could continue to interact freely with other folks without being treated as being any more "special" or "different" than anyone else.)  I remember fondly when Andy wrote "John Galt" under the hand-written list of office mates on the third floor, prompting the secretaries in the office to query, "Who is John Galt?"--just as he'd intended for them to do.  I cherish his memory as a fun-loving prankster and co-conspirator with a deliciously dry dark wit in the English Department out at I.C.C.  My heart definitely does go out to all you guys.  He will be missed...
