She was born on August 21st, 1931, a daughter of Rhoda and Albert Mitchell. She married William "Bill" Murphy on August 18, 1951 in Chicago.
She is also survived by her son, William "Bill" F. (Catherine) Murphy, Jr. of New Braunfels, TX; her daughter, Donna (Michael) Verheyen of Peoria; three grandchildren, Stephanie (David) Fluty of Mackinaw IL, Allison(Jackson) Rolfs of Kansas City, MO, and Eric(Kendall) Verheyen of Ashburn VA; three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Abigail Fluty, Maddox Rolfs; and several nieces and nephews.
Alberta is preceded by her husband, Bill; her parents; and her 12 siblings.
Alberta worked for Eurest Dining Services at Caterpillar for 36 years, retiring in January of 2015.
She loved going to the Par-A-Dice Casino and playing the penny slots. She would play bingo and card games with her family. She loved to cook meals from scratch, particularly her homemade noodles. Alberta loved flowers and planting flowers and vegetables in her garden. She also baked cupcakes for the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria for their fall carnival.
Alberta was a die hard Chicago Cubs fan.
A Visitation for Alberta will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, located at 2021 N University St. in Peoria, IL. A Funeral Service will be held directly after at 11:00 am and Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Committal will take place after services at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
