

Alfred "George" Herrmann, 84, of Peoria, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on January 24, 1941, in Peoria, a son of Alfred A. Herrmann and Bernita E. "Bunny" (Bourdereaux) Herrmann. George married Ramona L. "Monie" Knapp on June 11, 1966, in Pekin. She survives.
He is also survived by his three daughters, Jennifer Whiteside-Fielder of Manito, Natalie Herrmann of Peoria, and Melanie (Paul) Fensterman of O'Fallon, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Abbie Powell, Austin Whiteside, J. Anthony and Alivia Fielder, and Max, Meyer, and Oliver Fensterman; three great-grandchildren, Luken and Maxen Powell and Huxley Fielder.
George was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Julienne B. Lampal.
He was a graduate of Peoria High School, Class of 1959. George attended Bradley University and Illinois State University before settling into work at Pabst Brewery for 20 years until its closing. Using his hard work ethic, knowledge of gardening, and love of "buzzing his machines" to run a decades long lawncare and snow removal business. George had a discriminating palette as he was a purveyor of fine foods, antiques, and clothing.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Peoria, He was a Mason and a member of the Pekin Bottle Club.
George's funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Peoria. Rev. Dr. Timothy Ozment will officiate. His visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am also on Saturday at the church. Burial will take place in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
