He was born on December 10, 1950 in Eldorado, IL to the late Marshal and Salina Lee (Thomas) Towle, who was a loving mother that raised 6 boys. Almond married Linda Towle on November 3, 1972. They spent 33 years together until her passing on September 19, 2006.
He enlisted in the United States Army on February 25, 1970 where he served as a Lineman. Almond left the military on September 29, 1971.
He worked as the Head Mechanic at Mt. Hawley Bowl, owned by his long time friend, John Weisner, where he was lovingly referred to as "Geno." He retired in 2006 but continued to work when he was needed. He also worked for Crossroads Lanes and Midway Bowling, owned by his dear friend, Mike Ryan, where he would help when they needed him. Almond attended Bay View Baptist Church in Washington, IL.
Almond was known to be able to fix anything mechanical, and loved to work on mechanical items. Every evening he played video games to wind down. He loved to go fishing with his family at Aunt Barb and Uncle Herman's pond. He also loved woodworking, and made wooden toy boxes for all his grandkids. Every year he would plant tomato plants and tend them until he was able to pick them.
Almond is survived by his children, Jim Lehman, Becky Lehman, Theresa (John) Bernius, and Joe Everette; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; his brothers, Tom (Irene) Towle, Donald Towle, Bill Towle, Earl Towle, and Jim (Marge) Towle; many nieces and nephews; and many extended family members.
He is preceded by his parents and his wife, Linda.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Committal will take place directly after services at Parkview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be made to the Veterans Association.
