Anne Marie Fahey

She was born on April 13, 1939 to Dr. Robert V. and Bonnie M. (Cortum) Ferrell at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado, IL.

She graduated from Gulf Park College for Women, Mississippi and went on to the University of Illinois and earned a BA in English and finally a Masters of Liberal Studies from Bradley University. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega social sorority through which she met the love of her life, Robert.

She taught English at Eldorado High School, Naperville High School, and Illinois Central College until her retirement.

Robert and Anne married August 24, 1963 in Eldorado. Anne was an amateur naturalist and avid reader and a member of the Mark Twain Society. She was a supporter of the education of Native American reservation children. She and Robert spent many years on their sailboats on the Illinois River, Lake Michigan, and charters in the Caribbean. She was a member of the Illinois Valley Yacht and Canoe Club for 47 years and a member of the Illinois Valley Power Squadron. Anne was an election judge in Peoria and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul school lunch program. Anne and Robert traveled the United States and attended many rally events with the Illinois Lincolnland Airstream Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers John and Donald Ferrell.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert F. Fahey, children Bonnie Kokkinis (James) of Conroe, TX, Rosemarie Wright (Jay), of Mackinaw, IL, Robert V. Fahey (Kelley) of Parsippany, NJ, grandsons Evan and Robert Kokkinis and Aidan and Sean Wright, sisters-in-law Barbara Ferrell of Clear Lake, TX, Susan Wagner of Cumming, GA, and Charlotte Fahey of Bedford, NH, niece Dr. Gail Streater(John) of Peoria, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. Fr. Stephen Willard will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the funeral home from 4:00-6:00 PM, and a half hour before the service at the funeral home on Friday. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Red Cloud Indian School 100 Mission Drive, Pine Ridge, SD or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis.
