Annie R. Housley, 95, of Peoria, Illinois went to sleep Friday night and transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 23, 2024, being welcomed into her rest by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was affectionately known as Ms. Annie.
Ms. Annie Ruth (she never did use her middle name) was born on October 28, 1928 in Marion, Illinois to Rosie Ellen Rebecca Steele Housley and George Housley. After trying a couple other locations, she settled in Peoria, IL working as she could as a server/waitress (Palace Cafeteria), housekeeper, and the best babysitter some ever had. Our Mother/Grandmother was one of the strongest, gentle and most humble people you could meet, never one wanting the riches of this world. (Psalm 49) She was proud to say she did her own cooking and housework . At 95 yrs old, she held the honor of being the oldest member of the Housley family.
Having accepted Christ at an early age, Ms. Annie was a former member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. She read her Bible faithfully and loved watching some of the television ministries, taking notes as she watched. She also liked Dateline with Keith Morrison, Judge Judy, and the movie Home Alone. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and feeding breadcrumbs to the birds. She never took to dogs until she met her granddogs Maxx and Minxx.
