He was born Feb. 25, 1929 in Peoria to Frank and Mary (Romolo) Maggio. He married Dorothy “Dot” DeLong-McCullough on April 20, 1959 in Sarasota, FL. She passed away May 27, 2005 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include three daughters: Anna (David) O’Day of Peoria, Anita O’Connell of Chillicothe, Antonette Hamblin of Bradenton, FL, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one sister, Madeline Allonge of Bartonville, and a girlfriend, Patricia Powell-Jones of Peoria.
Tony was a United States Army Veteran. He worked at several different places during his life and they include, owning and operating Tony Maggio’s Barber Shop in Peoria for many years, Pabst Brewing Co. in Peoria Heights for ten years, he and Dot were house parents at Moose Heart in Aurora, caretaker for the Laborers Training facility in Mt. Sterling, and last he was the Custodian at Brimfield Grade School.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors, and for years bowled in several Peoria area leagues. His family came first and foremost in his life and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 12 Noon at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.
