

Barbara Lois Currie, 91, of Peoria, passed away at 10:16 a.m., Friday, November 23, 2012 at her residence. She was born September 5, 1921 in Wauwatosa, WI to Clyde and Mabel (Marcum) Reed. She married Donald Currie on January 9, 1942 in Austin, TX. He passed away in Peoria in 1969. Surviving are her four children Kent (Susan) Currie of Dallas, TX, Bruce Currie of Hoffman Estates, IL, Diane (Lowell) Currie Richardson of North St. Paul, MN, Gail (Greg) McCarty of Marietta, GA; one brother, James Marcum Reed of Brookfield, WI; six grandchildren, Brian, Bethany, Lara, Donald, Emily, Justine; and two great-grandchildren, Lily and James. Barb served as jury commissioner of the Peoria County Courthouse. She also worked for and retired from Commercial National Bank after many years of service. She was a member of United Presbyterian Church. Barb was active in and served as a deaconess in First Presbyterian Church. She had many interests: She traveled around the world, was a member of a photography club, and performed in local community theater. Her family will remember her sense of humor, her generosity, and her love of others. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2012 at Waters of Life Chapel in Lutheran Hillside Village. Rev. Dr. Randall Saxon and Rev. Paul Park will officiate. Cremation will be accorded. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Burial of ashes will be in Parkview cemetery at a later date.
