

Hopewell – Barrett Gene Wainscott, Sr., 83, of Pekin, formerly of Hopewell, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 1, 1938 in Peoria, a son of Joseph and Mae (Barrett) Wainscott. Barrett became a prominent first name as there are now four generations of “Barrett’s” in the family. He married Judy Reames on September 2, 1961 in Peoria. She survives.
Barrett is also survived by his two children, Barrett (Susan) Wainscott, Jr. of Fort Myers, FL and Kim (Bob) Terres of Greenville, WI. Also surviving is his brother Jack Wainscott of Scottsville, KY. His grandchildren are Barrett Wainscott III (Erin) of Waukesha, WI with great grandson Barrett IV; Jessica Mansfield (Sam) of Appleton, WI with great granddaughter Malee and great grandson Troy II; Josh Stubbs of Appleton, WI with great granddaughter Vivian; Brenton Wainscott of Fort Lauderdale, FL. He is further survived by many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and sister and brother in laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ronnie Wainscott.
Barrett last worked as an installation training specialist for Florstar, retiring in 2010. He was very proud of his innovative ideas for flooring installation and training while traveling the entire Midwest putting on installation seminars.
He was a member of the Henry Lodge #119 AF & AM. He was an avid and competitive golfer and enjoyed woodworking. His family feels so blessed to have had a man of such strong faith and solid morals as an example to follow. He attended Northwoods Community Church in Peoria.
Barrett's memorial service will be at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Pastor Keith Lindgren will officiate. Barrett's visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm also on Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
