He was born on February 9, 1953, in Geneseo, Illinois, to Ivan and Dorothy (McKinzie) Quayle. Raised in Geneseo, graduated with the class of 1971. He married the love of his life, Donna Pennington, on May 26, 1972, in Geneseo, beginning a marriage that spanned more than 54 years.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Donna; his two sons, Matthew (Kelli) Quayle of Peoria and Jacob (Erica) Quayle of Hookerton, North Carolina; his cherished granddaughter, Lydia Quayle; his grandson, Dylan Nastali; and his dear friend and neighbor, Jo Gentry.

Bruce found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, working in the yard, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved granddaughter, Lydia Joy. Whether he was sitting on the floor playing baby dolls with her or simply enjoying time together, being “Bup” was one of the greatest joys of his life.
Bruce will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and remarkable patience. He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. His bright blue eyes and warm smile reflected the kindness he showed to everyone he met. His quiet generosity and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew him.
