

She was born August 11, 1935 in Chicago, IL to Campio and Viola (Dahlberg) Amado. She married George F. Fanta on September 7, 1957 in Evanston, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are one son Steven (Julie) Fanta of Morton; two daughters Linda (Brian) Troemel of Lake Villa, IL, Julie (Eric) Carson of Aurora, IL; 11 grandchildren Joey (Amy) Fanta, Bobby (Caitlin) Fanta, Katie (Chris) Guth, Becky Fanta, Chelsea (Luke) Bowman, Stacey Troemel, Alec Troemel, Abby Troemel, Ben Carson, Neal Carson, Adam Carson; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Ramona Nemeth, Juanita Phillips, Margarita Dupre and Esty Jozaitis.
Carmen enjoyed square dancing for over 50 years and was a member of the Peoria Red Hots square dancing club. Carmen enjoyed gardening, and traveling with George to out of town square dancing conventions. Carmen was a talented singer and former member of the Peoria Philharmonic Chorale, active member of the Red Hat Society, member of First Federated Church and their Mother’s Club, and was a member of the Christian Women’s Association.
Carmen was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She touched the lives of many and she will be truly missed.
A funeral service will be 11 A.M., Monday, September 19, 2011 at First Federated Church. Rev. Dr. Frosty Krummel will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 A.M., Monday prior to services at her Church. Entombment will be at Parkview Cemetery Chapel of Peace Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Federated Church, 3601 N. Sheridan Rd., or Peoria Cancer Center Foundation, 8940 N. Wood Sage Rd. Peoria.
