

He was born Dec. 22, 1945 in Starkville, MS to George and Sadie (Powers) Banks. He married Norma Brownlee on Nov. 13, 1971 in Chicago. She survives along with five children: Shannon (David) Banks-Brooks of Plainfield, IL, Enid Banks of Peoria, Allysen (Chris) Classen of Peoria, Leslie Brownlee of Peoria, Andre Banks of Chicago, seven grandchildren: Niara, Sierra, Noah, Elijah, Brandon, Symantha, and Garrett. He was also survived by one brother, William Banks of Mississippi, two sisters: Martha Nicholson of Illinois, Mary Janice Reid of Pennsylvania, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and seven brothers and sisters.
C.B. was a United States Navy veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Following his time in the military C.B. worked for Illinois Bell as a Construction Manager for over 30 years retiring in 1999.
C.B. enjoyed golfing, gardening, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, July 31, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Peoria Area Alzheimer’s Chapter or the American Cancer Society.
