He was born July 12, 1946, in Madison County, Miss., to Charleston and Mattie (Simmons) Bratton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his love of 31 years, Sheila Schell of Peoria; and two sons, Charles (Tracy Zimmerman) Bratton Jr. of Bartonville and Charles Christopher Heath of Peoria. Also surviving are two sisters, Murlene (Charles Albert) Bratton Thompson of Jackson, Miss., and Pearlie McElroy of Peoria; and two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Haley Marie Bratton.
Charles worked for more than 20 years as a machine operator at I. Erlichman Co. until retiring in 2002.
He loved spending time with his family, dancing, the outdoors and watching sports.
A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, with the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012. Burial will follow the service in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Methodist Hospice Program.
