He was born January 16, 1942 in Poplar Bluff, MO to William and Verina (Knoppe) Ferguson. He married Judith "Judy" DeArcos and she preceded him in death. He later married Janet Snare and she preceded him in death. His parents, one daughter Terry Lee and a step-son, Bobby Snare also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his three sons, Garrot Ferguson, Rick Ferguson and Randy Guerrero all of Peoria; his step-daughter, Amber (David) Larsen of Elmwood, and step-son, Ronnie Snare of East Peoria; several grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four siblings, Robert (Gloria) Ferguson of East Peoria, Leola (Bill) Anderson of Bloomington, Steve (Terri) Ferguson of East Peoria and Daniel (Lynn) Ferguson of Dunlap; and his dear friend Hugh Harper.
Gene worked as a sales manager for Montgomery Wards until it's closing and then worked with the Ag Lab in Peoria until retiring. He attended St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria and was a member of Duck's Unlimited and the N.R.A. Gene loved spending time with family, boating, hunting, fishing and camping at Giant Goose Lake.
A visitation will be Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. A funeral service will be Monday, April 23, 2018 at 10:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Parkview Cemetery.
