She was born on January 17, 1951 in Peoria to Francis "Vic" and Laura Ann (Hawse) Vaster. She married Danny K. Buhr on October 1, 1971 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2022 in Metamora.
Also preceding Cheryl in death are her parents, and brother, Glenn Vaster.
She is survived by her son, Shawn (Genna) Buhr of Germantown Hills; grandsons, Alex and Charlie Buhr; sisters, Kim (Robert) Cross and Michelle (Russ) Spicer; sisters-in-law, Dee Day and Dawn Hostetler; many nieces and nephews; and three great-nephews.
Cheryl worked in bookkeeping for many years for Chris Hoerr, Cilco, and Caterpillar. She was a member of the Women in the Outdoors and a volunteer for the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
Cheryl had a love for animals, especially horses. She enjoyed nature, birds, drag racing, and NASCAR. Danny and Cheryl traveled to many races over the years. She was a proud soccer mom and grandma, and always had a kind heart.
Cheryl's visitation will be held at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel on Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Monday, December 30, 2024 at 11am with an additional visitation to start an hour prior at 10am. Burial will take place at Parkview Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to Central Illinois Riding Therapy "CIRT" or the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
