Peoria – Colin R. Paul, age 88, of West Peoria, passed away on February 2, 2014, after a beautiful day spent with his family at the Owens Hospice House in Peoria. He demonstrated true strength in his final days as his battle with cancer came to an end.
Colin was born March 8, 1925 in Kewanee, IL, the only son to the late Herbert and Clementine Rae-Paul. Colin honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII. In 1952 Colin married Marilyn Callahan in Milan, IL. He lived in West Peoria most of his life. Colin was a dedicated serviceman for Sears Roebuck for over 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Peoria, and will be remembered for his love of traveling around the United Sates as well as internationally with his wife and family. Colin had a green thumb and loved to tend various gardens which were scattered all around his home in great abundance. Colin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Colin is survived by his wife of 61 years; one son Mike (Linda) Paul of Rockwall, TX and one daughter Karen Ann Paul of West Peoria; three grandchildren: Kara (James) Boyles of Niles, MI, Stacy Paul of Rockwall, TX and Tyler (Monica) Paul of Murphy, TX. Grampa Colin was also blessed to have five great-granddaughters whom he loved dearly and where his greatest joy: Emory, Camdyn, Kira, Emma and Rachel; three sisters: Norma (Harold) Ericson of Peoria, Mary (Jim) Ramer and Marylin Baird both of Seminole, FL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one beautiful granddaughter Brandy Michele Paul, and one sister, in infancy, Helen. They walk together now.
Cremation rights have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday February 7, 2014 between the hours of 6:00-8:00 pm at Davison Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Burial of ashes with military honors will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Colin’s memory may be made to the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
