

Cynthia Sanders Grimshaw (Cynny) died peacefully on February 17, 2013. She was born on November 18, 1936 to Judson H. and Elizabeth H. Sanders. Surviving are two daughters, The Rev'd. Gretchen Sanders Grimshaw (and Thalia Meehan) of Boston, MA; and Elizabeth (and Brett) Stovall of Peoria, ILL; and one son, James Jeffrey (and Lea Ann) Grimshaw of Cottleville, MO. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Lauren and Charlie Stovall of Peoria, ILL; and Judson and Joseph Grimshaw of Cottleville, MO; and she is survived by her beloved dog, Micah. She is also survived by one sister, Elizabeth Browne of Dahlonega, GA and her family.Cynny was a graduate of Denison University in Granville, Ohio, and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. After graduation, with degrees in English and Communications, she began her lifelong vocation as a teacher, most recently serving as a tutor of English-as-a-Second-Language for Caterpillar Tractor Company; tutoring a variety international employees who came from all over the world. Cynny was a member of Peoria Obedience Training Club, and loved training her German Shepherds and working with others and their dogs. And for twenty years, she was active with the Meals on Wheels Program. Cynny had a great passion for her family, and her friends; a great love of dogs and horses; and a lifelong commitment to developing her faith and relationship with God, seeking the truth in all things.Cynny attended First Federated Church where services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, February 21, 2013, to be followed by a festive reception and celebration of life.
