

David was born December 1, 1952 in Decatur, IL, the son of Floyd and Barbara Davis Stewart. He married Kristin Vandeveer on June 28, 1975.
He is survived by his wife of forty years; one son Jeff (Alicia) Stewart of Ballwin, MO; one daughter, Kate (Steven) Gingrich of East Peoria; four grandchildren, Elliott, Kailani, and Ozzie Stewart, and Crosby Gingrich; one sister, Cynthia (John) Wright of Frisco, TX; one brother, Douglas (Melinda) Stewart of Cudahy, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a music and band teacher most of his adult life, retiring from Princeville School District in 2007. He then worked as a band teacher at Good Shepherd Lutheran School and St Joseph Catholic School both in Pekin. He also taught private clarinet lessons throughout his career.
David was a member of Peoria Municipal Band from 1969-Present, and Principal Clarinetist for many of those years. He was also a member of the Peoria Symphony, Prairie Wind Ensemble, and St Martin Chamber Players. David was choir director from 1975-2007 at First Presbyterian Church in Peoria. He attended Grace Presbyterian Church and was a member of Grace Winds and many other musical groups.
While still at Princeville School District he was also the sponsor of Chess Club. He was an avid St Louis Cardinal fan. His hobbies were tennis and model trains. David was a wonderful father, husband, and grandfather. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Davison-Fulton Wolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Pastor Doug Lightley will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
