Born on June 3, 1952, in Peoria to James Madigan and Berne Ulick, Denise was known for her quick wit and unwavering devotion to the people she loved.
Denise had a gift for making people laugh, often when they needed it most. Even in her final weeks, Denise kept hospital staff and visitors laughing with her humor. But her greatest gift was the way she loved.
Nobody loved harder than Denise Wirth.
She was fiercely loyal, protective and always in the corner of the people she cared about. If you were one of her people, you knew it. And if you were one of her children, there was simply no greater advocate to have on your side.
Denise shared meaningful chapters of her life with Joseph Boers and Richard Wirth. Though their marriages ended, the friendships, mutual respect and affection remained. Both men visited Denise in her final days, a reflection of the lasting bonds they shared.
Those relationships brought Denise her three children: Tiffany, Stephanie and Blake. They were her whole world, and she never missed an opportunity to show them how much they meant to her. Being their mom was the greatest joy of her life.
That love extended to her four grandchildren, Taylor, Colby, Kendall and Quinn, each of whom brought her tremendous happiness and pride.
Denise spent much of her professional life at WXCL Radio and Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was also a longtime member of St. Mark Church in Peoria.
Denise loved country music, spending time with family and, of course, her beloved dog, Rizzo, who held a special place in her heart.
In her final days, Denise showed extraordinary strength and courage. Despite everything she endured, she remained the same loving, devoted woman her family had always known.
Denise is survived by her children, Tiffany (Tyler) Church, Stephanie (Nathan) Mueller and Blake (Misty) Wirth; her grandchildren, Taylor Church, Colby Mueller, Kendall Mueller and Quinn Mueller; her brother, Michael (Candy) Madigan; and her beloved dog, Rizzo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Madigan and Berne Ulick; her stepfather, Rexford Cumming; her sister, Victoria Wherley; and her infant brother, Scott Michael Hanshaw.
A Visitation honoring Denise's life will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, followed by a Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m.

Denise leaves behind a family who knew what it meant to be loved without conditions. She stood by her people, celebrated their victories and carried their burdens — and she will never be forgotten.
