

Born April 22, 1948 in Cairo, Illinois to Carl E. Bailey and Dorothy M. (Ogborn) Bailey; he married the former Marcia Ellen Redenius on August 23, 1969 in Peoria.
He is survived by his wife, Marcy Bailey of Princeville; his sons, Jeff (Stephanie) Bailey of Dunlap, IL and Jayme (Kelly) Bailey of Peoria; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Bailey Jr of Columbia, MO, Jenny Bailey of Dunlap, and Kelsey, Kyla, and Ryan Bailey of Peoria; his brother, David (Vicki) Bailey of Edwards, IL; a brother-in-law, Dr. William Redenius of Scottsdale, AZ; a niece, Alisha (Matt) Schoedel of Dunlap; and a nephew, Aaron (Anne) Bailey of Vernon Hills, IL.
Dennis graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria, Class of 1966 and from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1970.
He served in the Army National Guard from 1969-74.
He built his career as a CPA at Peat-Marwick, then later CliftonLarsonAllen in Peoria until his retirement in 2012 after 42 years in public accounting. In retirement, he went to work with his sons at Robert W. Baird and Co., Inc.
Dennis served his community in many capacities, including leadership roles at Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Creve Coeur Club of Peoria, the Children’s Hospital of Illinois, Concordia Lutheran School Board, the Country Club of Peoria, the Lutheran Hillside Village, and the Red Cross of Central Illinois.
Through 47 years of marriage with Marcy, she and Dennis dedicated their lives to providing the family with the stability, leadership, and memories that they will always cherish. Dennis was happiest when surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 12th at the church with additional visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Jack Mackowiak will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Arrangements are entrusted to Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel of Peoria.
Donations in celebration of his life are suggested to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois Foundation, the Redeemer Lutheran Church Foundation, or the Lutheran Hillside Village Benevolent Fund.
