

He was born on September 11, 1926 in Pekin, IL to Fredrick W. and Perle (Bennett) York. He married Dorothy M. White on July 19 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church in Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy of Peoria and several nieces and nephews.
Don served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II and reached the rank of Coxswain before being honorably discharged in 1947. He worked as a Steamfitter with the Steamfitters Union Local 353 retiring in 1981. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Masonic Temple Lodge #46 A.F. & A.M., the Scottish Rites Bodies, Valley of Peoria, Mohammed Temple Shrine, a Past Commander of the Legion of Honor, a member of the Greater Shrine Club, Mohammed Senior Nobles, past member of Legion of Honor Color Guard, a member and past president of the Independent Sport Club, a member of American Legion Post 979 and the Elks Lodge #20 in Peoria.
A visitation will be Sunday, February 6, 2011 from 2 to 5 pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. A funeral service will be Monday, February 7, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Chapel with Rev. Steven Tibbits officiating. Burial will follow the service at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
