He was born November 17, 1923 in Greenview, a son of Elmer and Gladys Montgomery. He married Dorothy Ellen Cantrall in Peoria on April 5, 1947. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, David (Elli) Montgomery of Chicago; one granddaughter, Sarah of Chicago; one sister, Wilma Davison of Greenview; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Gregory Alan.
He served in the Army Engineers during WWII, training recruits and then in the Pacific Theatre. He was discharged as a Staff Sgt. In January 1946.
He was a graduate of Bradley University. He was owner and President of Du-Mont Co. in Peoria, retiring in 1987. He served several years delivering for Meals on Wheels.
He was a member of Glen Oak Christian Church in Peoria where he served as a Deacon. He was a member of Mt. Hawley Country Club where he served on the Board of Governors.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Rev. Dr. Randy Arlan Williams will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
