Dorothy A. Brand

Dorothy A. Brand, 92, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on October 4, 1922 in Kewanee, Illinois. She was the daughter of Raymond and Marie (DeHass) Kelch. She married Leo Bryce Brand on July 5, 1942 in Peoria, Illinois. He survives.

Also surviving are two children, Susan (Victor) Becks of Morton, Illinois, Virginia (David) Sessa of Dunlap, Illinois, daughter-in-law, Jeannine Brand of Peoria, Illinois; one sister, Charlotte (Swede) Ostrom of Wabasha, Minnesota. She has four grandchildren, Nicole (Cary) Ballard, Edward “Toby” (Andrea) Burns, Belinda (Tom) Rohn and Michelle Morse. She has seven great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Brand, one sister, Maxine Landergren and one grandson, Tyler Becks.

Dorothy and her love of her life, Bryce lived in Belgium and Australia while Bryce worked for Caterpillar Inc. She volunteered many hours at Proctor Hospital. She was a master gardener with plants and flowers. She loved to sew and bake. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Peoria.

Funeral services will be at Noon Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Davison Fulton Woolsey Wilton Funeral Home. The Rev. Patricia Stetson-Warning will officiate. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until services on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow, with inurnment at a later date in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
