

Dorothy “Dot” Mae (Weyeneth) Hoerr, 84, of Peoria, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 24, 1932 in Metamora, Illinois to Silas James and Laura Esther (Hodel) Weyeneth. She married John Henry Hoerr on January 27, 1952 in Eureka, Illinois. He survives. She also is survived by six children, Jack and Jody (Waibel) Hoerr of Peoria, Julie and Jim Barth of Metamora, Joan and Bill Schick of Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico, Jeff and Jada (Phillabaum) Hoerr of Peoria, John and Serena (Sauder) Hoerr and Jane and Breck Nelson of Edwards; 37 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Marilyn Roth of Roanoke, two brothers, Melvin and Donald Weyeneth both of Roanoke, and one grandson, Alex Barth.
Dot attended Mount Pleasant Grade School and Roanoke High School where she was the Valedictorian. She also was a cheerleader, Glee Club member, Class President, competed in music competitions and loved school. She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist. After high school she worked at Caterpillar and married her sweetheart on January 27, 1952. In 1955 Dot gave her heart to Jesus and lived the rest of her life loving Him and everyone she met. She never knew a stranger. In 1956 Dot became a full-time mother and a part-time accompanist for the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church choir. She was a VBS coordinator for many years and an activities volunteer at the Apostolic Christian Skylines. Dot and John loved to have people (young and old) into their home to share the love of Jesus with them. Many people referred to Dot as their “second mom.” Funeral services will be Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church. The church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday at the Davison Fulton Woolsey Wilton Funeral Home and from 12:00 until 12:45 PM Sunday at the church.
