Dorothy Samuelson

She was born on July 3, 1925 in Monticello, Iowa, to Rudolph and Mae (Eby) Ambuehl. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1943 and attended secretarial school in Peoria. She worked for the local credit bureau and sang with area jazz bands. On June 27, 1947, she married Glenn Samuelson in San Bernardino, California. She raised her only daughter, Paula Dodd, and then began work at the Peoria County Circuit Clerk’s Office. She retired as a Records Audit Clerk, in 1989, after twenty-five years of service.

Dotty was a member of the Alpha Iota Sorority and attended Bethany Baptist Church in Peoria. She passionately enjoyed sewing, Cribbage, Scrabble and travelling the country.

Glenn preceded her in death on August 2, 2003 in Peoria. Paula passed away on January 5, 2010. Her parents and one sister, Margaret Dewalt, also preceded her in death.

Surviving is her grandson, John (Melissa) Dodd of Champaign, one sister, Ruth Otten of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. A graveside committal will be held Friday, December 3, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Swan Lake Mausoleum Chapel in Peoria.
