Dorothy Lee Schell

Dorothy was born on August 17, 1928 in Essex, MO to the late Henry and Ethel (Appell) Duley. She married William J. Schell on December 24, 1947 in Peoria, IL. They spent many years together until his passing on January 12, 1994.

After her children were in school, she entered back into the workforce. She worked at Sears in multiple positions. She then went to work for her son at Schell Systems HVAC as the Office Manager until she retired at 90 years old.

Dorothy loved spending time with her family. She loved cooking and loved to cook for her family. She also loved to read, garden, and enjoyed traveling over the years.

Dorothy is survived by her children, John (Cheryl) Schell, Debra (Michael) Baldwin, and Robert (Mary) Schell; her grandchildren, Matt (Elvie) Schell, John (Tess) Schell, Jr., Jason Schell, Robert H. Schell, Caitlin (Zach) Wood, and Catherine Schell; 4 step grandchildren; her great grandchildren, Luke Schell, Sabrina Schell, Lance (Ashley) Schell, Jacob Schell, Lexi (James) Baker, Malia (Cole) Langanis, Elise Schell, Neethan Schell, Oliver Wood, and Maddie Wood; 7 step great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; her brother, Ralph (Judy) Duley; and daughters-in-law, Victoria Schell and Nancy Schell.

She is preceded by her parents; her husband, William; her sons, William Michael Schell and Kevin R. Schell. She is also preceded by 9 of her 10 siblings.

A Funeral Service for Dorothy will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 11:00 am at Calvary Baptist Bible Church on Nebraska Ave, with a Visitation one hour prior. Pastor Gary Geer will be officiating. Committal will be at Yates City Cemetery in Yates City, IL.

Memorial contributions can be made out to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Shriner's Children's Hospital.
