

He was born Jan. 3, 1949 in Peoria to Delbert and Shirley (Sherman) Swanson. He is survived by his mother of Peoria, two brothers: Darell (Paula) Swanson of Morton, Fred Swanson of Chicago, three nephews: Mark (Tracy) Mingus of Washington, Tim (Tamara) Mingus of Lake Mary, FL, Nick (Kristen) D’Alfonso of Morton, two nieces: Sheri (Mike) Cuff of Longwood, FL, Penny Tegard of Bartonville, four great-nephews, and five great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Marge Tegard.
Doug worked at Fleming Potter for 25 years.
He was a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria. He was a passionate follower of Stock Car racing and the St. Louis Cardinals.
His love of Metal Detecting led him to many friends around the states as he belonged to the “Nuggettiers” club in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be Saturday July 11, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Karl Eckhoff Officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church at 2020 W. Malone in Peoria.
