Doug was such an awesome individual. He helped me so much with Peoria Metro Kids Ministry in Taft Homes every Saturday. He was always smiling, always so kind and always helping —everyone. My husband, (Brett) and I would always have lunch at his SONIC restaurant and chat with him. Well done faithful servant—you're with Jesus.

I worked with Doug for a period years ago at Sam Leman's.
I was always surprised that a person of Doug's physique could have such a warm and friendly demeanor.
He was well liked by everyone he worked with.
He was definitely a gentle giant.
I am truly saddened by this news.
My heart felt condolences to Doug's family.

I was so blessed to call Doug my brother in law. He has been in my life for almost 46 years. Thank you for loving my sister with all your heart and giving us 6 wonderful nieces and nephews. Very grateful to have spent those last 10 days with you and Terri. Until we meet again.

We weren't around Doug a lot, but the few times we were, there was always prayer or some type of ministry involved. There was always a sense of gratefulness and confidence in Doug''s demeanor. He knew His Lord and expected the miraculous. Our condolences to all his extended family. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Even in sadness that this old earth has lost him, Doug has won his last and final prize! We will see you again, Doug.

I remember visiting Doug's house a handful of times as a kid and he always made our stay fun, and included the kids in the conversations. Rest in peace, Uncle Doug, you will be missed.

Doug was a great friend and role model for me and so many others. His contagious faith was so encouraging no matter what the situation. He was unashamed of his love for Jesus and his heart was so big for every person regardless of their background or status in the world. A true pillar of strength for his family, friends, and community, he leaves behind the legacy of a life well lived for Christ. It is an honor to know his children and grandchildren who carry on that legacy.
