Drakos " Jimmy" James Nellas

Drakos James "Jimmy" Nellas, 90, of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Farmington Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a sudden battle with cancer. Born in Peoria, IL on September 2, 1935, he was the son of the late Louis and Pauline "Polly" (Maliongas) Nellas. On June 18, 1961, he married Maria Trilikis. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2024.

Surviving two daughters, Paula (Marshall Canfield) Nellas and Stephanie (Patrick) Meier; as well as four cherished granddaughters.

Jimmy graduated from Peoria High School and soon after joined the US Army and served in Korea. Jimmy worked as a food service manager for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, playing golf, cooking, baking, and spending winters in Texas with Maria. He was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, The Masons, and The Scottish Rite.

The family would like to thank the staff at Farmington Village, Compassus Hospice, and the VA for providing wonderful care during his final days.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Springdale Cemetery.
