Eleanor Hinds

Eleanor L. Hinds, age 93, of Peoria Heights, passed away Wednesday June 4, 2014 at 4:05 a.m. at Heartland of Riverview in East Peoria. She was born June 2, 1921 in Peoria to Otto and Anna (Nau) Jonas. She married George A. Hinds May 25, 1940 in Peoria. He passed away Jan. 18, 1996 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one infant grandson, one brother, and two sisters. Survivors include two daughters: Cheryl Hinds of East Peoria, Charlene (Mike) Chism of East Peoria, six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Eleanor worked at the Ben Franklin Dept. store in Peoria Heights for 20 years retiring in the mid 1980’s. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Emblem Club, Pekin Moose Club, and the Peoria Elks Club. She was also an avid golfer and played on several Peoria golf leagues. Funeral services will be Saturday June 7, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson’s Association or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate. Please view Eleanor’s obituary online at
