

She was born January 19, 1932 in Louisville, KY, to Carl W. and Esther (Lambertus) Kranz. She married William L. Ahlemeyer on February 20, 1955, in Louisville, KY. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2009.
Surviving Erna are her daughter, Diane (David) Bobb, who resides in Seymour, IN; son, Douglas Ahlemeyer, who resides in Waymansville, IN; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Andrew) Walton, Patricia (Greg) Choisser, David (Kaila) Ahlemeyer, and Adam Ahlemeyer; great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Oliver, and Braden. Preceding her in death were two sisters: Lloyd Elaine (Lloyd) Lawson and Marguerite (Donald) Fowler.
Erna studied at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY, where she was a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity. In 1973, she moved to Peoria, where she worked in the accounting department of Sherwin-Williams for three years. She later worked at Jefferson Bank/Bank One/Chase Bank in the investment and accounting department until her retirement on December 31, 1996.
Erna was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she served as Sunday School Treasurer, was involved in the Garden Club and Dorcas Circle, and sang in the church choir for 48 years. Erna was previously a member of the Shively Women’s Club in Louisville, KY, and the Gourmet Golfers League in Peoria. She volunteered at the Lutheran Hillside Village General Store and at the Braille workshop at Trinity Lutheran Church. Additionally, she and her husband were members of the Lutheran Resort Association in Southern Indiana.
Visitation will take on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home (2408 W Willow Knolls Dr, Peoria), from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Redeemer Lutheran Church (6801 N. Allen Road, Peoria) from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
