

Evelyn was born May 5, 1932, in Barnum, Minnesota, to Emmett and Lula (Nelson) Williams. She married Alan Smith on August 26, 1962, at First United Methodist Church in Peoria, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan, and her sisters, Ellen Buchanan, Dorothy Gordon, and Helen Washer, as well as one grandchild, Ryan Ferguson. She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Craig) Seaton and Elaine (Alan) Ferguson, and six grandchildren, Caleb Seaton, Austin Seaton, Christopher Seaton, Stefanie Seaton, Mel Ferguson, and Matthew (Elizabeth) Ferguson.
She received her BA degree from McPherson College in Kansas and did graduate work at ISU. She was an elementary teacher for 23 years and retired from District 150 in 1991.
Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and found joy as an enthusiastic golfer. She was a longtime member of Community Bible Study and Peoria First United Methodist Church.
Al and Evelyn traveled and camped in all fifty states, and later traveled in the British Isles, Scandinavia, Europe, and Greece.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Evelyn’s life. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Peoria First United Methodist Church or Southside Mission.
