

Everett Ray Skaggs, 82 of Peoria passed away Saturday December 12, 2015 at his home. Born December 19, 1932 in Ridgewood, IL to Walter and Wilma (Block) Skaggs; he married Joyce Hamblin on June 18, 1955 in Swaffham, England and she survives. Also surviving are his sons, Allan Skaggs of Peoria and Tim (Lori) Skaggs of Washington, IL; sisters, Helen (Jim) Waddell of Manito and Lorraine Pettit of Bartonville; brother, Tom Skaggs of Peoria; and 4 grandchildren, Ryan, Luke, Kayleigh and Austin Skaggs. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Skaggs. Everett was a self-employed flooring installer for 58 years, retiring in 2010 at the age of 78. He also operated Skaggs Yard and Garden Center on Farmington Road in the 1980’s. He was previously active with the Shriners and Mason’s and was a member of the NRA. He was an Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville. Everett loved gardening, fishing, and attending his grandchildrens activities. He will be remembered as a hardworking man who always put his family first. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Pastors John and Vicki Schmidgall will officiate. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
