Most people don’t realize it but Fred was a pioneer for high school soccer in the Peoria area. His Central teams were the first to be an IHSA team and not just a club. And look where we are now. All-Americans, players who went on to start on NCAA Division 1 Champions, high school teams ranked in the the top 10 nationally. Fred was at the forefront of it all. Let’s keep him in our prayers. God bless him.

The first time I met Fred was at a Civil Air Patrol meeting on the Army base in Peoria IL-my son, Douglas was interested in being a pilot and possibly attending the Air Force Academy-the best way to do this would be joining the C.A.P. Douglas is presently a First Officer for Delta Airlines in Atlanta GA.
It was a pleasure working with Fred helping with the cadets interested in the military or to become a pilot. I learned so much about the military myself as a Senior officer and the medical officer for the Peoria area squadron. Fred made it so interesting-he really loved the cadets and made sure our
squadron was one of the best in Illinois.
Fred will be missed, he did make the world a better place.

Sincerely and with my sympathy
Margaret Gibbs, Capt. C.A.P.

My condolences. I was a player/captain in two PHS sports under Coach Genge—soccer and tennis. It has been a few years (class of ‘83) but I remember his enthusiasm and support for all of us in “minor” sports. They were never minor to him.

Ann, I remember you telling me when Fred proposed. That was almost 50 years ago.
Dear Sister, you have been a good and faithful wife. My deepest sympathy to you, and to Jeff/Brandi, Jon/Becky and to Margaret. I send you all my love. Kath
